The specialty of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery today is a highly technical and very specialized field of medicine. It encompasses all medical and surgical aspects of treating diseases and disorders of the ears, nose and throat. This includes ear, nose and throat allergy, infectious processes such as otitis media (middle ear infections), sinusitis (sinus infections) and pharyngitis (throat infections) as well as disorders of hearing, balance, taste, smell, swallowing, speech and language. Tumors, both benign and malignant, are treated by highly skilled surgeons. Our surgeons also perform maxillofacial surgery, otologic surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, sinus surgery, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery and more recently laser and radiofrequency surgery for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea.
